Middletown, RI - Joseph Lacerda, IV, 26, of Middletown, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2006, after a courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Born in Newport, RI on October 19, 1979, he was the son of Joseph A. Lacerda III of Portsmouth and Donna Faber Silvia of Portsmouth.Mr. Lacerda was a 1998 graduate of Portsmouth High School and he attended Bristol Community College as an associate degree student in computer technology. While in high school, Joe was the statiscian for the football team and wrote sports articles for the school newspaper and the Sakonnet Times. He was an avid sports fan particulary of the Atlanta Falcons, San Franciso 49ers, and Oakland As. Through the make a wish program he was able to see the 49ers play in Foxboro. Later he saw the Falcons play in Atlanta. Besides his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandfather Joseph Lacerda II of Portsmouth, RI, his maternal grandmother Joanne Honeycutt of Tiverton, RI, his sister Jennifer Stallings of Arkansas, his step father Joseph Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, his step mother Cindy Lacerda of Portsmouth, RI, his step sister Carla Connelly of Portsmouth, RI, his step brothers William Connelly of Fall River, MA, Andrew Connelly of Portsmouth, RI, Jacob Silvia of North Carolina and Alex Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, four aunts, one uncle, and several cousins. Joseph also leaves behind his many beloved friends of Rocky Knoll, his roommate Joseph Pires, a former teacher Mrs. Johnson of the Elmhurst School, his cat, Jose and many more friends. He was the grandson of the late Katherine Lacerda. His funeral will be held on Friday, October 6, 2006, at 10:00am, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth. Donations in his memory may be made to the Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Dpt. Rescue Wagon Fund, P.O.
