Newport, RI - Joseph N. Loffredo, 83, of 171 Eustis Avenue, Newport, RI, died Thursday, December 14, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Christine E. Antonelli Loffredo. Born in Lawrence, MA on March 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Americo and Josephine Campaiolla Loffredo.Mr. Loffredo served in the United States Army, during World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Loffredo was owner and operator of Kristina Shoes on Bellevue Avenue for thirty years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Newport Lions Club and a communicant of St. Mary?s Church, Newport. Besides his wife of 59 years, he is survived by his children, Toni Paquette of Shrewsbury, MA, Joseph N. Loffredo, Jr., of Portsmouth, RI, Robert Loffredo of Barrington, RI, and Kenneth Loffredo of Portsmouth, RI and ten grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Nicholas Loffredo, Margaret Diadamo, and Lannie Grasso. His funeral will be held on Monday, December 18, 2006, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2006, from 2-5 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
