Virginia Beach, VA - Joseph P Diogot, 73, of 609 Tyson Road, Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of 891 Wapping Road, Portsmouth, died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Sentera Medical Center, Virginia Beach, VA. He was the husband of Juanita Clark Diogot. Born in Massachusetts on August 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Samuel H. and Catherine Richards Diogot.Mr. Diogot served in the United States Air Force. He worked for 25 years as a controller for Raytheon until his retirement in 1995. He also worked at the Newport Naval Base for 10 years as a mechanic. Joe volunteered at the Newport Hospital for many years, served as a coach and umpire for the Middletown Little League and helped with his best friend George Thurston for over 40 years at Thurstons Tree Farm in Portsmouth. Mr. Diogot was a communicant of St. Barnabas church, a member of the Newport Yacht Club and also served as a skate guard and played hockey at St. George?s School. He was an avid sailor, fly fisherman, hunter, Red Sox fan and New England Patriot fan. But most of all Joe will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and being called ?Joes One Liners.? Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Pamela A. and her husband Robert Raposa of Warren, RI, Catherine and her husband Steven McCauley of Virginia Beach, VA and Josephine and her husband Kyle Lynch of Portsmouth, RI, and his grandchildren, Jennifer Raposa, Chad Lynch, Rachel Raposa, Cody Raposa, Darren Lynch, Chris Durkin and Robbi McCauley. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006, at 1:00pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.
