Portsmouth, RI - Josephine Anne Grasse Sousa, 77, of 468 Turnpike Avenue, Portsmouth, died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at the Fall River Jewish Home Inc., in Fall River, MA.She was the wife of the late Antone Sousa Jr. Born in Portsmouth, RI on October 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita Alves Grasse. Mrs. Sousa was a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center, where she served as secretary of its greenthumb organization and a member of the Portsmouth Garden Club, where she served as its publicity chairlady. She was a communicant of St. Anthony?s Church. She is survived by three sons Anthony J. Sousa of Barrington, RI, Thomas P. Sousa of Fall River, MA, and Richard M. Sousa of Tiverton, RI, her daughter Rita Anne Honnen of Middletown, RI, two sisters Hilda Hughes of Bristol, RI, and Theresa Bodah of Portsmouth, RI, and seven grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 11, 2004, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 209 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
