Portsmouth, RI - Josephine M. Green, 81, of 44 Stagecoach Road, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Newport, RI, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Rochester B. Green, USN. Born in Newfoundland, Canada, on February 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Yard Mullins.Josephine grew up in Canada, where she met Rochester B. Green, a US Navy Petty Officer while he was stationed in Canada and they later married in the Church of England. She raised her family as a Navy wife. She then enjoyed further travels spending time with her daughter?s family while they too were stationed overseas in the Navy. Josephine was always a joyful person, and her company would light up a room. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening or reading a good book.She is survived by a son Bruce B. Green of Newport, RI, a daughter Renae M. Smith and her husband Johnnie W. Smith of Aurora, NC, a brother Jacob Mullins of Newfoundland, Canada, a grandson Johnnie W. Smith II, a granddaughter Johnna-Marie Smith, and Great Grandchildren Sicily Josephine Smith and Malachi Elijiah William Pruitt Smith.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 11:00 am in Memorial Funeral Home.Burial will be private.
