Newport, RI ? Josephine Trifero Murdock, 87, of 36 Caswell Avenue, Newport, RI, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Harrison J. Murdock for sixty one years. Born in Newport, RI, on May 12, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Carmela Greco Trifero.Mrs. Murdock was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality where in 1996, she received honors for many years of outstanding work. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 110, the Congregation of Jesus Crucified of St. Pauls Priory, the Berklee Home Makers and the Middletown Citizen Center. She is survived by her children William Murdock of Newport, RI, JoAnne MacKnight of Portsmouth, RI, and Paula Murdock of Newport, RI, her granddaughter Carmela MacKnight of North Kingstown, RI, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Harrison Murdock Jr. and sister of the late Salvatore Trifero, Mary Trifero, Paul Trifero, Joseph Trifero, John Trifero, Salvatore Trifero 1st., and Carmelina Trifero. Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 13, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. from the Hambly Funeral Home, ?Brick House? 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2006, from 4-8pm in the Hambly Funeral Home.
