Jospeh Jesse Medeiros

Tiverton, RI - Joseph Jesse Medeiros, 89, of 70 Mill Street, Tiverton, RI, formerly of 33 Freeborn Street, Portsmouth, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, surrounded by his loving family at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. He was the husband of the late Maria Mary Medeiros. Born in Portsmouth, RI on May 22, 1918, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Angelina Ferreira Medeiros.Mr. Medeiros was a carpenter for various construction companies for 45 years, retiring in 1962. He was a member of the carpenters local 94 and the Portsmouth senior center. Mr. Medeiros was a participant in St. Anthonys Feast. He was a captain of the Clayton and St. Anne fishing vessels and was Captain Joe on the CB radio. He is survived by his daughters Geraldine M. Grondin of Westport, MA and Patricia A. Souza and her husband William of Tiverton, RI, his brothers John Medeiros and Manuel Medeiros both of Portsmouth, RI, his granddaughter Wendy M. Grondin Silvia of Westport, MA and his great grandchildren Michaela M. Silvia, Samuel S. Harstad and Gabriel P. Harstad all of Westport, MA.He was the brother of the late Mary Botelho Medeiros, Celia Morris Medeiros and Marion Mello Medeiros. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007, at 7:30 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Pocassett Hill Cemetery in Tiverton.Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007, from 3-7pm, in the funeral home.
