Orlando, FL - Joyce Marilyn Adams, 58 former Portsmouth, RI, resident passed away in Orlando, FL, from complications due to diabetes. Daughter of the late Albert and Marilyn (Babbitt) Adams of Island Park, she was a graduate of St. Anthonys School, Portsmouth High School class of 72 and Valencia Community College in Orlando, FL. She also attended the University of Central Florida where she was majoring in Elementary Education. Joyce was employed as a Civil Servant for 26 years. She was employed for Social Security in R.I. and later she transferred to Orlando as a pay clerk at the Orlando Navy Base until the Base closed. She had a love for Roller Skating since she was young and became a Professional. In the Orlando area she taught hundreds of children to skate. She loved working with young children and brought several children up through competition status and followed a few through to the professional status. Joyce is survived by her sister Paula Young (Wayne) of Orlando, FL, two brothers Alan T. Adams (Donna) of Tiverton, RI, and David A. Adams (Susan) of Seekonk, MA, her aunts, Pauline Walker and Sarah Adams, five nieces: Carly M. Young (Chad), Kacie L. Young, Kelsy E. Young. Tammy T. Adams and Megan M. Adams, her nephews, A.J. Adams (Christina) of and Matthew A. Adams, her great nephew Riley L. Burfield, and three great nieces Allie M. Burfield, Charlie Ann Peterman and Emma P. Adams all throughout the country. She also will be missed by family and friends in the Orlando, Rhode Island and Massachusetts areas.
