Joyce Sandra Simonelli

Portsmouth, RI - Joyce Sandra (Goldsmith) Simonelli, 61, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife of Anthony Simonelli Jr. Born in Chelsea, MA on July 7, 1952, she was the daughter of Harriet (Lerner) Shepatin and the late Melvin Goldsmith and Max Shepatin. Mrs. Simonelli was a graduate of Boston University in 1975, and was the Valedictorian of the Sargent School of Allied Health Professionals. Later in her career, she worked as a School Administrator for the Marshfield Public Schools and the Brockton Area Multi Services Inc, providing therapy to children with disabilities and support to parents as a part of the therapeutic process. Most important she had a special place in her heart for her grandsons, her family, her devoted friends, and her pet dog Sophie. Besides her husband of 39 years, she is survived by her children, Daniel Simonelli of Wenham, MA, Eric Simonelli of Warwick, RI and Christina Simonelli of Bristol, RI, her brother Elliot Shepatin of Lynn, MA, her sisters Nancy Rubin of Gloucester, MA and Giselle Shepatin of Berkley, CA, her two grandchildren Eliajah Simonelli of Warren, RI and Jase Simonelli of Warwick, RI, and her beloved pet Sophie.Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 2pm in Channing Memorial Church, 135 Pelham Street, Newport.Condolence visits will be held at the family home in Portsmouth RI, Saturday January11,2014 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday January 12, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 6;00 PM.
