Middletown, - Judith Ann Armstrong Doyle, 58, of 27 Indian Hill Circle Middletown, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at home.She was the wife of Hugh J. Doyle of Middletown. Born in Landsdown, PA on December 12, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Ervin J. and Hazel D. Paxton Armstrong. Mrs. Doyle was an elementary school teacher in Darby, PA for a year and a half, from 1966 to 1967, when she decided to become a homemaker. She was a graduate of Clifton Heights High School in Clifton Heights, PA where she was a National Merit Scholar and an outstanding girl athlete excelling in basketball, lacrosse and field hockey. Mrs. Doyle was a cub scout leader in Middletown and San Diego and she was also a girl guides leader of New Zealand. She traveled extensively with her husband Commander Doyle during his Naval Career.Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter Kathleen M. Doyle Bavier of Uxbridge, MA, two sons Stephen C. Doyle of Providence, RI, and Paul J. Doyle of Colchester, CT, her brother Glenn J. Armstrong of Secane, PA, her sister Sandra L. Steele of Glenmoore, PA, and her grandson Patrick W. Doyle.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at 8:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the VNS Hospice, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02571 or to St. Lucys Circle of Friends, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
