Judith Lombard

Newport, RI - Judith ?Judi? Clark Lombard, 61, of 267 Gibbs Avenue Newport, RI Cambridge, MA and Martha?s Vineyard, lost her battle with breast cancer at her home on Friday, February 27, 2004. Born in Stamford, CT she was the daughter of James H. Clark and Mildred Mack. A successful entrepreneur she founded and owned ?Island Canvas? with stores in Marthas Vineyard, Newport, RI and Boston, MA. She designed and made items the company sold and personally produced the colorful prototype canvas models. Reared in Cambridge, MA, Judi a passonate art lover held a degree from Massachusetts College of Art, a masters from Brown University and a C.A.G.S. from Boston University. She was a 1995 recipient of the Ted Sizer Fellowship of Harvard University and taught art at Gaudet School in Middletown, RI and at A.L.P. High School in Providence, RI. She took great pride in the achievements of her students. Judi will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her son Alexander Clark Lombard of Cambridge, MA, four sisters Joanne Johnson of Cambridge, MA, Andrea Clark of Ashville, NC, Jennifer Ramsey of Sacramento, CA, and Ruth Clark Norman of Gulf Port, MS, her brother James H. Clark Jr. of Jamaca Plain, MA, her god children Eric Jennings and Evangeline Campbell, her aunt, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews and many great friends. A Memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Hospice Program, Visiting Nurse Services Of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871. Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
