Julita "Nellie" P. Soriano

Julita "Nellie" P. Soriano, 66, of Newport, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Newport Hospital. Nellie was born July 2, 1949 in Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines. She is the daughter of the late Gaudencio Palad and Clara (Orfiano) Palad.She moved to Guam in 1974 and married in Guam on April 8, 1974 and followed her husband Larry in several Navy duty stations and gained several close friends along the way. She settled in Newport in 1985. She was active in the Filipino-American Association of Newport County, and a dedicated supporter of the International Naval War College Sponsor Program. She had a deep impact on the lives of many family members and friends.She is survived by her husband: Lorino E.Soriano, MSC, USN, (Ret), and her two sons Johnny Roy Soriano, an American Airlines pilot, and his wife Emma (Nylander) Soriano of Newport, and Neil Rey Soriano, IT1 USN, and her two grandchildren, Pelle and Klara. She also leaves two brothers, Ricky and Roger Palad, and a sister Thelma Segawa.
