Karen E. Benvenuto

Middletown, RI- Karen E. (Culipher) Benvenuto, 59, of Middletown, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 surrounded by her family. Born in Middletown, RI on July 18, 1954 she was the daughter of the late Robert and Rose (Perry) Culipher.She was a loving wife for 33 years to husband Anthony Benvenuto. She is also survived by her children, Anthony Benvenuto of Middletown, RI and Meredith Botelho and her husband Michael Botelho of Portsmouth, and her brother James Culipher of Middletown, RI. Karen worked for the Newport School system for over 15 years as a para educator. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for more than ten years. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, reading and playing with her devoted dog, Rosco.The family would like to thank the staff at the Grand Islander Health Care Center for being so compassionate and generous to Karen. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 4-7pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 8am from the funeral home, followed by Liturgy of the Word at 9:00 AM at St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand Islander Health Care Center, 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842.
