Katharine M. Champion

Katharine M. Champion, 55, daughter of Donald and Barbara Barrows Champion of Middletown, RI died on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Newport Hospital. A native Newporter, Kathy is survived by her daughter Shannon Champion, granddaughter Yazmine Champion, and grandson Kyle Rainville of Portsmouth, RI. She also leaves two sisters, Patricia Morris of Goffstown, NH and Donna Switzer of Springfield, VA along with several nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.Kathy was an animal lover, an avid golf fan, and most of all loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Although confined to her bed in the last few years, Kathy remained independent and always kept a positive outlook on life.Calling hours will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A brief service will be held at 11:00 am in the funeral home and the burial will immediately follow at Middletown Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathys memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, P.O.
