Katherine A. Galvin

Newport, RI - Katherine ?Kit? Galvin, 79, of Beacon Street, Newport, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI on January 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Abbie Dwyer Galvin. Ms. Galvin graduated from St. Catherine?s Academy in 1942 as class Salutatorian. Ms. Galvin worked for 30 years as a supply clerk at the Newport Naval Base and then went on to work as a secretary at Melville Fuel Depot. She was a member of St. Lucys Church, the Thursday Night Bowling League and active in the Middletown Senior Center. Ms. Galvin thrived on keeping track of her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister Mary Moore of Middletown, RI, two nephews Joe Moore of Newport, RI, and Michael Galvin of CA, three nieces Mary Kilmer of Tiverton, RI, Kathy Moore of Middletown, RI, and Judy Surber of Newport, RI, and several grandnieces and nephews Patrick Surber, Megan Surber, Jeffrey Kilmer, Bridget Moore, Gina Gallo, Rachel Gallo. She was the sister of the late Mortimer Galvin. Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 1, 2004, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
