Kathleen Cecelia Fitzgerald

Kathleen Cecelia FitzGerald, 94, formerly of Newport, RI, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Grand Islander Healthcare Center in Middletown, RI.Born in Newport, RI on April 23, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Golden FitzGerald.Kathleen worked for the Newport Housing Authority from 1961 to 1993. When the elderly high rise on Chapel Street was built and opened she was named Housing Manager; it is now called the Donovan Manor. Previously, she worked as Office Manager at the former Murphy?s Market, which was located on Broadway in Newport.Kathleen was a lifetime communicant of St. Joseph?s Church in Newport and was very active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the National Housing Managers Association.She was the sister of the late David F. Fitzgerald, Helen Patykewich, Lenora Lenski, Michael J. FitzGerald and Francis X. FitzGerald. She leaves five nephews, Michael D. FitzGerald, Michael J. FitzGerald, Sean G. FitzGerald, Richard Patykewich and Michael Lenski; three nieces, Nuala F. Duffy, Maureen F. Sharples and Martha Jensen; four great-nephews and seven great-nieces; twelve great-grandnieces and two great-grand nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Church / St. Vincent de Paul Society, 5 Mann Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
