Kathleen ?Kathy? P. Stack, 56, of Poplar Street, Garden City, NY most recently of Newport, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Women Infants Hospital Providence, RI. Born in Brooklyn, NY on February 25, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Margaret Keenan Stack. Kathy graduated from St. John?s University where she received her BA and later an MS in Library Science. She was a 4th grade teacher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Lindenhurst, NY for 32 years. Kathy was an exceptional teacher, nominated recently for the 2004 Disneyland Teachers award. At OLPH, she organized the St. Jude?s Mathathon, raising over $50, 000 for the St. Jude?s Childrens Research Hospital. Kathy was also the organizer of the Geography Bee for the school, and her students qualified for the state finals in Albany one year. She also served on the testing committee for the Diocese of Rockville. She was a member of St. Joseph?s Church in Garden City, NY. Kathy loved to travel and recently began working part time as a travel consultant for Empress Travel and Cruise of Lindenhurst until her illness. She is survived by her sister in-law Katherine Stack of Newport, RI with whom she recently resided, two nieces Susan Stack Madison of Ridgewood, NJ, and Laura Stack de Ramel of Newport, RI, her nephew Christopher Stack of Portsmouth, RI, and several great nieces and great nephews.She was the sister of the late John ?Jack? Stack. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2004, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport.
