Portsmouth, RI - Kenneth Norman Heywood, 57, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, died Monday, August 5, 2013, surrounded by his family at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. He was the husband of Sandra Lynn (Simas) Heywood. Born in Fall River, MA, on March 6, 1956, he was the son of the late Milton J. and Georgette A. (Blaise) Heywood. Mr. Heywood was the Data Processing Vice President for Citizen's Bank. He was an avid golfer at Green Valley Country Club, taught tennis, coached basketball and loved fishing. Mr. Heywood was a fan of the Portsmouth High School Football team, loved to play guitar and sing. His most loved passion was listening to Christian music and studying the word of God. His happiest place on earth was the traditional family, cherished vacations to Walt Disney World. Besides his wife of 22 years, he is survived by his children, Stephanie L. Ferreira and her husband Carlo of Bristol, RI, Stefanie A. Simas of Newport, RI, and Jessica E. Simas of Windermere, FL, his siblings, Cathy Martin of ME, Bob Heywood of MA, Patricia Grosser of ME, John Heywood of AL, and Barbara Heywood of MA, and his four grandchildren, Kyle Anthony Oliveira, Jacob Cole Oliveira, Mia Nicole Oliveira and Leah Shea Ferreira. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013, from 4-8pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. His funeral will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013, at 10:00 AM in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
