Middletown, RI - Kevin Phillip Welch, 54, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the Newport Hospital, with his daughter by his side.Born in Lakewood, NJ, on December 8, 1956, he was the son of the late James E. Tucker and the late Ruth Tucker. He moved to Middletown around the age of 5.He was brother to Charles Welch, Richard Welch, Marion Welch, Eugene Welch and Douglas Tucker. He was also the brother of the late Steven R. Welch, Lawrence J. Welch, and Christopher G. Tucker.Besides this he leaves his beloved daughter, Melanie Welch and his three grandsons, Eric J. Welch, Kevin R. Welch, and Ethan K. Welch, as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Kevin was a devoted father and grandfather. His daughter and grandsons were his pride and joy.Kevin was a jack of all trades. He could build a house, lay the floors and paint it. He worked for many years for Dom Drago who Kevin loved and looked at as a father figure. Kevin loved to do crosswords, the Wheel of Fortune, and loved to play the Powerball. He was a movie buff and an avid reader. He made us laugh often, and he was a good, honest, hard working and loving man. Over the years he had kept many close friends.A celebration of his life will take place Wednesday, June 8th, 2011, from 5-8pm, at the Portuguese American Club, 15 Fenner Avenue, Newport.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the EFC Newport, Synergy Youth Ministry, 70 Bliss Mine Road, Newport, RI 02840.
