Kirsten Louise Manuel (born Kirsten Louise Albro) was born in New Brunswick, NJ on November 4, 1937. She grew up and went to school in Sayreville, NJ - spending many summers visiting her paternal grandparents in Newport, RI. After completing her college studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, she became a music teacher in Piscataway, NJ. Following this she spent a number of years as a 3rd grade teacher in Spotswood, NJ.After moving to Newport, RI in 1976, she served as a Director with the American Sail Training Association, and the Edward King House, as well as working at Touro Synagogue. Following her true passion, which was music, she served as organist, pianist and choir director for several area churches including St. Paul's Methodist Church and Newport Congregational Church. Kirsten was predeceased by her parents, Gardner and Isabel Albro of Middletown, RI (formerly of Sayerville, NJ) and recently her younger sister, Nancy Fox, of Palo Alto, California.She is survived by her husband, Allan Manuel, her two sons, David Mann of Newport and James Mann and his wife Lucy Mann, of Warwick, RI. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Chelsea and Rory Mann, and Branddun Frost - all of Newport, RI. In addition, she leaves behind her husband's seven children, fourteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.A memorial service in her memory will be held on Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 at 11:00am at the Saint Paul's Methodist Church located at 12 Marlboro St, Newport, RI. A private burial will be held at the Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth, RI at a later date.Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation (249 Roosevelt Avenue, Suite 201, Pawtucket, RI 02860).
