Newport, RI - Koula Sarris Tsaparas, 91, of Village House Nursing Center, formerly of Pond Avenue, Newport, RI, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late John P. Tsaparas. Born in Newport, RI on July 3, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Mary Loftatis Sarris.Mrs. Tsaparas and her husband John owned the Quality Lunch on Broadway and she also retired from the phone company as a supervisor over 40 years. She was a 1937 graduate of Rogers High School. Koula was a member of St. Spyridon Church, the Daughters of Penelope, the former Newport Hospital Auxilary Coffee Shop, the Point Association, the Pholoptocus Society of St. Spyridon, the Newport Waterfront Association, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Middletown Senior Center. Koula loved to play bingo and bowled in her Morning Glory Duck Pin League. She is survived by her sister-in-law Theresa Sarris of South Easton, MA, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews and very dear friends Denis and Mary Carlisle of Newport, RI.She was the sister of the late George Sarris of Brockton, MA and Frank J Sarris of Boneta, CA, and her sister Rose Spotts of Vero Beach, FL. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2011, from 4-7 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011, at 10:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with her service at 11:00AM, in St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport.
