Laura Rose Medeiros

Laura R. Silvia Medeiros, 86, formerly of 15 Wilson Road, Middletown, RI, died Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Grand Islander Heath Care Center in Middletown after a long illness.She was the wife of Manuel Medeiros, Jr.Born in Middletown, RI on December 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Parvo Silvia.Mrs. Medeiros was a 1942 graduate of Rogers High School, Newport, RI. Upon graduation, she was a civil servant with the United States Government at the Torpedo Station in Newport, RI, followed by employment at J.T. OConnell, Newport, RI, Swan Cleaners, Middletown, RI, Middletown School Department, and lastly as a Marketing Representative at Pearson Yachts, Portsmouth, RI, where she retired in 1985.Laura was very devoted to her family and was a gourmet cook. Her joy was having her family gather in her kitchen where her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would enjoy their favorite recipes. In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by her daughters, Joanne M. Cappuccilli and her husband, Jack, of Feeding Hills, MA and Barbara A. Dunn and her husband, Barry, of Middletown, RI; four grandchildren, John A. Cappuccilli and his wife, Lisa, of Marshfield, MA, Jacqueline A. Cappuccilli of Berwick, ME, Katie R. Dunn of Marshfield, MA and Christopher W. Dunn of Beverly, MA; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley Cappuccilli, Sydney Volpe and Jacob Cappuccilli. She was the sister of the late Mary A. DeMenezes and Rose Van Ohlen.Her funeral will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 9 am from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI. Burial will follow in St. Columbas Catholic Cemetery, Middletown, RI.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.Laura enjoyed beautiful flowers, however, if preferred, donations may also be made in her memory to Susan G.
