Laurindo A. Freitas

Laurindo A. Freitas, 83, of Middletown, RI, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at home.Born October 3, 1929 in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Antone A. and Emily (Rezendes) Freitas. Mr. Freitas served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He owned and operated the former L.A. Freitas Insurance Agency in Middletown for 48 years. Mr. Freitas was a member of the VFW Post #4487 of Middletown and a Communicant of Jesus Saviour Church.He was an avid salt water fisherman and hunter.He is survived by his two daughters Linda Marie Hussey of Middletown, RI, and Karen Louise Phillips of CA, his sister, Louise Freitas White of Middletown, RI; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and Barbara Silvia of Newport, RI, his constant companion and best friend for over 35 years..He was the brother of the late Edmund Freitas.Calling hours are respectfully omitted.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 10 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI Burial with military honors will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown.
