Leah I. Vieira

Leah (Izadore) Vieira, 91, of Dexter Street in Portsmouth, died Monday, September 10, 2012 at Heatherwood Nursing Home in Newport. She was the beloved wife of Edward T. Vieira for 66 years. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul Vieira and Karen Joslin Vieira of Portsmouth, RI; and her sister, Norma Matton of Fall River, MA, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Freitas. Born in Fall River, MA on August 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Gloria (Medeiros) Izadore. Mrs. Vieira was a seamstress for Anderson Little for many years, and also worked as a circuit board assembler, retiring from Transcom in Portsmouth. She was an outstanding seamstress and homemaker, and loved her family and her dogs, Cody and Bella. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth from 8:30 am - 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
