Leo Barboza AmadoNEWPORT, RI - Leo Barboza Amado, 85, of 164 Locust Avenue, Portsmouth, RI died Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at Newport Hospital where he was surrounded by his family.He was the husband of Mary Theresa Costa Amado. They had just celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on January 24 of this year. Born in Pawtucket, RI on June 28, 1920, he was the son of the late Leo B. and Candida Monteiro Amado. Mr. Amado served in the United States Army during the European Theater. He had worked as a driver on the US Naval Base in the Transportation Department. Mr. Amado also worked with his father at his restaurant the former Leos First and Last Stop on Long Wharf in Newport. He loved his hobby, the LBA Farm, raising livestock including horses, cattle, pigs, goats, ducks, and chickens, his favorite was his horse Goldie. Leo was a member of St. Barnabas Church, the Newport Cape Verdian Club and the Bristol Chapter of The Disabled American Veterans. Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his stepson Anthony J. Amado of Rochester, NY, his brothers William B. Amado and Theodore B. Amado both of Portsmouth, RI, his sister Amelia Ferreira of Newport, RI, his grandchildren Anthony Amado and Rachel Amado both of Rochester, NY, Jeremy Amado of Oakland, CA, Talon Amado of Ledyard, CT, and his great-grandchildren Adain Amado and Hanna Amado of Rochester, NY, Chae Amado, Mia Amado, and Monea Amado all of Oakland, CA. He is preceded in death by his son Leo Michael Amado, his brothers John S. Amado, Benjamin Amado, Walter Amado, Frank ?Nelson? Amado, Joseph ?Joe-Joe? Amado and his sister Florinda Boors. His funeral will be held on Saturday October 22, 2005 at 9:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
