Leo Francis Risko

Leo Francis Risko, The family of Leo F. Risko sadly notes his passing at Newport Hospital on June 20th of a short illness. Born on September 11th, 1923 in Providence to John Risko and Lillian Hickey Risko, Mr. Risko was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and Rhode Island State College now URI, from which he received a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in 1946. He joined the Naval Underwater Systems Center in Newport in 1953, rising to the position of technical director before retiring in 1978. He joined McLaughlin Research Corporation of Middletown later that year and was named president in 1982, a position he held until retiring in 1992. Mr. Risko was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Claire Risko, of Portsmouth; a brother, James Risko of Providence; a sister Rita Widyn, of Corinth, Texas; four sons -- John Risko of Los Angeles, Paul Risko of Bedford, New York, Robert Risko of Westborough, Massachusetts, and Mason Risko of Franklin, Tennessee.
