Leona P. Sorensen

Tiverton, RI - Leona Lee P. Ferris Sorensen, 63, of 851 Main Road, Tiverton, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Born in, Providence, RI, on March 28, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Medeiros Ferris.Leona worked as a registered nurse for the state of Rhode Island, retiring just two months ago. She was kind, loving mother who was always there for her family and friends. Leona loved bowling, cards, cribbage, helping other people and traveling with her friend Pat. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was on the board of directors of We Love Children. She was also an avid Red Sox fan.She is survived by son Brett Sorensen and his fiancee Rebecca Leib of Tiverton, RI, her granddaughters Nicole C. and Johannah V. Sorensen of Tiverton, RI, her sister Rita Souza of Scottsdale, AZ, her uncle and godfather Arthur Medeiros, five cousins, and many neices and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 11-1 with a Memorial service to follow at 1pm, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
