Newport, RI - Leonard J. DeSantis, Jr., 64, of 66 Merton Road, Newport, died Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Catherine Croughan DeSantis. Born in Newport, RI on January 18, 1940, he was the son of the late Leonard and Ruth Delavergne DeSantis. Mr. DeSantis worked as a marine electrician for the former Robert Derecktor Shipyard in Middletown and also for the Newport Shipyard. He worked for the City of Newport as an electrican for eleven years retiring in 1990. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 9057 and IBEW International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. DeSantis was an avid New England Patriots Fan. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters Kimberly Ann Pachico of Middletown, RI, Karen Marie Vieira of Newport News, VA, and Kristen Mary DeSantis of Pittsfield, NH, his twin brother Michael Anthony DeSantis of Florida, two sisters Jeanette Bush of Newport, RI, and Elizabeth ?Sis? Reed of Portsmouth, RI, and four grandsons. His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2004, at 1:00 PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
