Lillian A. Flanders

Portsmouth, - Lillian A. Flanders, 93, of Portsmouth, died at home on Friday, January 24, 2014. She was the wife of the late Gerald Flanders.Born in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Armando and Rose (Pasqualetti) Ruggeri.Mrs. Flanders was born and raised in Newport on Elm Street and was the youngest sister of nine siblings. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1938, and went to secretarial school. During WWII, Lillian sang and performed for the local USO. She later worked at Franklin Printing. In later years, Lillian worked for the Local YMCA from which she retired.She was the mother of the late Dennis M. Flanders and sister of the late Victor Ruggeri, Angeline Simpson, and Helena Ruggeri. She is survived by her sons John F. Flanders and his wife Roxanne of Portsmouth, RI, Robert V.
