Lillian H Stewart Newport, RI - Lillian H Stewart, 89, of 2 1/2 Pond Ave, Newport, RI, formerly of 111 West Main Rd, Middletown, and 9 Warner St Newport, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at home in Newport. She was the wife of the late Randolph Stewart, Sr. Born in Newport, RI on April 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Ida Sutton Jackson.Lillian worked for 10 years at General Dynamics as a material controller. She also worked as a housemother for 6 years for ARC group home in Newport. Mrs. Stewart previously worked as a food handler in the Newport School lunch program, at the torpedo station during WWII, and as a waitress at the Hunt Club. Lillian was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Park Holm Senior Center, and a former member of the Fleet Reserve. Lillian also enjoyed tennis and bingo, and participated in the Outer World Bowling League. She is survived by two sons Randolph Stewart Jr. and Ronald Stewart, both of Newport, RI, three daughters Lois Pailin of Newport, RI, Lynn Stewart of Newport, RI, and Leah Plummer and her husband Bennie Plummer Sr., of Middletown, RI, one brother Alfred Jackson of Newport, RI, and two sisters Yvonne Lopes of Newport, RI, and Marlene Ray of Portsmouth, RI. She is also survived by four grandchildren Darron Pailin, Latonya Plummer, Bennie Plummer Jr., and Reginald Stewart, and six great grandchildren, Derek Lewis, Marcus Plummer, Isaiah Plummer, Jasmine Plummer, Hannah Plummer, and Alexis Plummer. She is preceded in death by a brother Howard Jackson, and two sisters Florence Gray and Carol Greer.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 23, at 10:00 am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will follow in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 22 from 6-8 in the Memorial Funeral Home.
