Lindy (Nettleton) Prinster

Newport, RI -Lindy (Nettleton) Prinster, 73, of Newport, RI, passed away on January 27, 2024 at Home and Hospice Palliative care in Providence. She was the companion of 30+years of Clive Anderson.

Born in Plymouth, England on May 21, 1950, She was the daughter of Michael and Francis (Dobson) Nettleton.
Being the daughter of a British Royal Navy Supply Officer, she, together with her older sister Marion, traveled to many different Naval Stations around the world including Hong Kong and Singapore, the latter of which introduced her to Asian food, a love of which never left her.

In the early 1970's she met and married a U.S. naval pilot and moved to the U.S.A. in 1972 where during the next 18 years she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at University of Rhode Island. She also became heavily involved in theater, performing numerous times with The Rhode Island Shakespeare Theater and with her own theater company -Choice Productions - which she established for charitable purposes. Before leaving England, she was a founding member of the Bench Theater, which, after some 300 performances, is still running strongly today.
Lindy returned to the U.K. in the early 1990's for 5 years, where she met Clive, her life partner for the next 30 + years. They moved to Newport in 1997 where Lindy resumed her interest in theater and in 2015, together with Carmela Geer, established a play-reading group at the Edward King House which she hoped would encourage people to become more confident in self-expression in a safe and non-critical environment. There is no doubt that this aim was achieved, as many would endorse.

Lindy is survived by her loving companion, Clive Anderson, of Newport, her sister Marion Waters of Havant, Hampshire UK. She is also survived by her nephew Mark and niece, Emma and her beloved dogs Geordie and Kulfi.

A Life Celebration will be held at the Edward King House in Newport on Sunday, February 11th at 1pm. In memory of Lindy, donations may be made to the Edward King House.
