Lloyd W. Simmons, 80, of Jacksonville, FL died peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Acosta-Rua Community Hospice of Northeast FL.Lloyd was born January 7, 1935 in Andover, MA. He is the son of the late Frank W. Simmons and the late Evelyn K. Simmons.He was the husband of Ann E. (Soares) Simmons for 35 years.Lloyd worked for Raytheon as an Electrical Draftsman for 32 years, retiring in 1992. Ann and Lloyd lived in Portsmouth, RI for many years till retiring to Florida in 2003. Lloyd loved buiilding model cars, gardening and fishing. He was an avid bowler; scoring a perfect 300 game in January 1981, a past member of the Somerset Fishermans Club and enjoyed scuba diving. One of his favorite pastimes was model trains and was a longtime member of Aquidneck Valley Model Railroad Club.He is survived by his wife Ann and four daughters; Latricia Pinto of Jacksonville, FL, Lynette Dawley and her husband Greg of Newport, Lanore Soesbe and her husband Brant of Jacksonville, FL and Leandra Frisk and her husband John of Venetia, PA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ryan Mycroft, Meagan Mycroft, Victoria Frisk and Harrison Frisk.Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257, Attn: Community Hospice Foundation.
