Lois A. Gabriel

Middletown, RI - Lois A. Safford Gabriel, 80, of Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI, formerly of 10 North Drive, Portsmouth, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the center. She was the wife of John L. Gabriel Sr. Born in Lakeland, FL on June 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Irene Burton Safford. Mrs. Gabriel was a secretary for the Portsmouth School Department for 20 years, retiring in 1983. Besides her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her sons John L. Gabriel Jr., of Hanover, MA, Richard R. Gabriel of Tiverton, RI, David R. Gabriel of Portsmouth, RI and Joseph H. Gabriel of Zanesville, OH, her sisters Vera Peters of Loveland, CO and her twin sister Lucille Wadleigh of Mt. Vernon, ME, and eleven grandchildren, and one great grandson. She was the sister of the late Ruth Safford. Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007, at 9:00am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007, from 6-8 pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
