Lois B. Lopes

Newport, RI - Lois Byrd Lopes, 59, of 11 Brooks Avenue, Newport, RI, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late John J. Lopes. Born in Newport, RI on June 16, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Rex Robert Byrd and Rita J. Oliver Eckhart and Frank J. Eckhart. She is survived by her siblings, Gwen A. DiChiaro, R. Michael Byrd, Rex R. Byrd, Frank J. and John J. Eckhart of Newport, RI, a niece Leah M. Ciarlo, and two nephews, Rex R. Byrd III and Jeffrey J. Maloney.She was the aunt of the late Steven M. F. Byrd.Her funeral and burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010, from 5-7 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
