Lorraine (Gomes) Miranda Santos

Portsmouth, RI - Lorraine (Gomes) Miranda Santos, 82, of 51 Middle Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at home. She was the former wife of the late John P. Miranda and Edward Santos. Born in Middletown, RI, on October 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara (Soares) Gomes.Lorraine resided at Anthony House in Portsmouth where she was known as the head key person. She was a longtime member of the International Ladies Garment Union in Fall River and worked at Sunset Custodial Services on the Newport Naval Base for 14 years before retiring. She is survived by her son, Thomas Miranda and his wife Barbara of Tiverton, RI; her daughters, Shirley Leins and her husband Michael of Crown Point, IN, and Dianne Jarvis and her husband Frank of Zebulon, NC; her siblings, Raymond Gomes of North Kingstown, RI, John Gomes of Middletown, RI and Billy Gomes of Portsmouth, RI; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Robert B. Miranda and the sister of the late Eleanor M. Keeling and Dorothy Lavoie.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 4-7 pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
