Lorraine R. Furtado

Newport, RI - Lorraine R. Brownell Furtado, 82, of 44 Burnside Avenue, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI. She was the wife of John ?Pete? R. Furtado for 64 years. Born in Newport, RI, on July 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Stanton and Lauretta Berard Brownell.Mrs. Furtado worked at the Torpedo Station during World War II. She also worked for Oscar Shultz in his flower shop before leaving to start her family. She is survived by her daughters Judith Gadoury and her husband William of Windham, NH, and Lisa J. Clark and her husband Jeremy of Westford, MA, her sister Grace Brownell Furtado and her husband Anthony of Newport, RI, her sister in-law Dolores Brownell of East Rockaway, NY, her grandson William J. Gadoury of Newton, MA, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Stanton Brownell Jr.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2006, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 14, 2006, from 4-8 in the Memorial Funeral Home.
