Louis C. Martineau

Louis C. Martineau, 88, of Sprague Street, Portsmouth, died on Thursday, December 30 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Lois (Slaiding) Martineau. Born in Woonsocket, RI on September 27, 1927, he was the son of the late Louis Martineau and Arona (Brown) Martineau. Louis was a WWII veteran of the US Army. He served in the 187th Para Glider Infantry and remained a loyal member of the VFW. He spent his entire career working for the Portsmouth School Department in the maintenance department.He is survived by two sons, Louis Martineau of Missouri, and Lee Martineau of Middletown, RI. He also leaves two sisters, Eleanor and Violet, his daughter-in-law and caretaker Linda Martineau, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.Louis was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his son Brian Martineau, and his granddaughter Holly Ann.A private service will be held at Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, RI.Donations may be made in his memory to the Portsmouth Rescue Wagon Fund, PO Box 806, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
