MILTON, FLORIDA, - Louis Gaspar, Sr. of 6529 Julia Drive, Milton, Florida, formerly of 9 Carey Street, Newport, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at home. He was the husband of the late Violet Agnes Gaudreau Gaspar. Born in Fall River, MA, on December 25, 1919, he was the son of the late Adriano and Marianne DeCosta Gaspar. Mr. Gaspar was a lobsterman for over 50 years until retiring in 2000. During most of that time he worked for the Parascandolo family in Newport.He was a former member of the Rhode Island Salt Water Fishing Club.A World War II Army Veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the European Theater. He is survived by one daughter Geraldine M. Finley of Milton, FL, one son Louis Gaspar Jr. of Hope Valley, RI, one brother Joseph Gaspar of Newport, RI, one sister Mary Nelson of Newport, R.I, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the sister of the late Alice Marshall. His funeral will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at 12 Noon in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
