Louis Paul Michalczik, 69, of Newport died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Orchard View Manor of Riverside, RI. Louis was born August 1, 1946 in Newport, RI. He is the son of the late Paul Michalczik and Janet (Souza) Michalczik. He was the husband of Sandra Patricia (Vargas) Michalczik for 45 years.Louis was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in a Heavy Artillery division in Vietnam. He was a hardworking employee at the Newport Hospital, retiring in 2009 after a 45 year career as a cook. Louis was an avid fisherman and enjoyed wood carving and classic western movies. He volunteered his culinary talents for many years at the First Presbyterian Church Mother Daughter Dinners.He is survived by his wife Sandra Patricia (Vargas) Michalczik, a daughter Janet Ann ODonnell of Reading, PA and two sons, Paul Louis Michalczik of Newport, and Bob Dylan Michalczik of Newport, two brothers: Robert Michalczik and Lenny Sharp, both of Newport; and six grandchildren, Michael Michalczik, Christopher ODonnell, Katelynn ODonnell, Dave ODonnell, Louis ODonnell, Jada Michalczik; and two great grandchildren, Johnathan ODonnell and Jaymie Michalczik.Calling hours will be Sunday, October 18 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19 from the Memorial Funeral Home at 11:00am, followed by a burial service with military honors at 12:00 noon in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
