Louise Josephine Santos

Middletown, - Louise Josephine Furtado Santos, 94, of 549 Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown, died Saturday, February 1, 2003 at home. She was the wife of the late Manuel C. Santos. Born in Newport, RI on Oct. 14, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Silveria Furtado and the late Luiza Perry Furtado. Mrs. Santos was an accomplished homemaker, gardener, painter, fisherman and loved bingo. She was a faithful communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. She is survived by one son Francis R. Santos of Middletown, RI; one daughter Mary Halama of La Mesa, CA; one sister Agnes ?Pat? Rogers of Carson, CA; four brothers Richard Furtado of Michigan, John Pete Furtado of Newport, RI, Anthony Furtado of Newport, RI, Charles Furtado of Portsmouth, RI; 13 Grandchildren; and 19 Great Grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Manuel Santos, Joseph Santos, and William Santos. She was the sister of the late Joseph Furtado, George Furtado, Ernest Furtado, Albert Furtado, William Furtado, Francis Furtado, Mary Gonalves, and Albertina Shaffell. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
