Louise Steele

Newport, - Louise Kdan Steele, 91, of 384 Broadway Newport, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late George I. Steele to whom she was married for 57 years. Born in Providence, RI on August 17, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Louise Prohaska Kdan.Mrs. Steele worked at Bradley Children Hospital in East Providence from 1931 to 1942 as a practical nurse. She came to Newport in 1946 when she married her husband George and worked at the Torpedo Station until it closed. Mrs. Steele then worked as an inspector at the General Electric Building in Newport until the early 1960s. She was a member of the Redwood Library and Trinity Church. She is survived by her nephew Donald Mulvany of Warwick, RI.She was the sister of the late Stephen Kdan and Dorothy Mulvany. Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 21, 2003, at 11:00 AM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.
