Middletown, - Lucille Melissa Burns, 76, of 10 Rogers Lane, Middletown, formerly of 5401 East Bay Village Middletown, and 58 LeRoy Drive, Riverside, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Burns Jr. Born in Charleston, South Carolina on May 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Carrie Zaller Simmons.Mrs. Burns had been employed by Child and Family Services as a certified Nurses Aid for the last ten years.She is survived by her son Robert E. Burns of East Providence, RI, her daughter Nancy L. Miller of Middletown, RI, three sisters Helen Smith of Charleston, SC, Stella Blackwell of Johnston City, IN and Thelma Temple of Chesterton, IN, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at 9:00AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in St. JosephsChurch, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
