Lucy A. Augustus

Portsmouth, RI - Lucy A. Silvia Augustus, 75, of 26 Randall Lane, Portsmouth, RI, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Frank J. Augustus, Jr.. Born in Newport, RI, on October 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lucy Pemental Silvia. Lucy loved her family and friends and was willing to help in any way possible. She had a big heart and always thought of others. She was a childcare provider for many years, and drove school buses for Middletown Public Schools. She was active in Girl Scouting, not only as a leader but, served as cookie chairperson for many years. She was also active in the Special Olympics held at Salve Regina University. She was a talented craft-person which included upholstery, design, sewing, painting and ceramics. She also loved gardening. When she wasnt taking care of children, she enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Arizona, California, Milwaukee and Guatemala. She was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church in Portsmouth. Besides her husband of 56 years, she is survived by her children, Marjory Marge Augustus, of Taunton, MA and Rocky Augustus and his wife Gina of Little Compton, RI, she also leaves three grandsons, the joy of her life, Kyle, Andrew, and Eric Augustus, her brothers Anthony Buster Silvia and his wife Millie, and Albert N. Silvia and his wife Dale both of Portsmouth, her sister-in-law Margaret Peggy Bernier of Westport, MA, several nieces, nephews, close lifelong friends and extended family members.She was also the sister-in-law o the late Mary Margaret Peggy Cox Silvia and the late Donald Bernier.She was the sister of the late Elaine Silvia.At the request of her family all services are private.
