Lucy Rose Levada

Middletown, RI - Lucy R. (Bonci) Levada, 77, of Middletown, RI, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at home surrounded by her family.She was the wife of Al Levada of Middletown. Born in Newport, RI, on January 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Alexander F. and Angelina (Ripa) Bonci. Lucy worked at Raytheon for nearly 30 years. In the late 70's she became the President of local 587 for a few years and then became the secretary before retiring in 1991. She was very active in the Middletown Democratic Party, and served on the council for one term. She also served on the personnel board for a term and the zoning board for 26 years, resigning in 2013. She loved playing golf with her friends at Green Valley Country Club and was a member for over 30 years. She was also one of the Advocates in recognizing the over 80 year old members by honoring them with a party each year. Besides her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her daughter Karen Sheely and her husband Tim, and her son Alan Levada and his wife Marie, four grandchildren: Brett Sheely, Joshua Sheely, Gregory Levada and Alison Levada, her sister Phyllis Braga, her brother-in-law Richard and his wife Sheila Levada, her brother-in-law Bob Levada, her aunt Vickey Perry and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013, from 5-8pm in the Hambly Funeral Home, "Brick House", 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI. Her funeral will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
