Lynda Ruth Chafton

Newport, RI - Lynda Ruth Chafton, 47, of 156 Park Holm Newport, died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of Raymond Tillery. Born in Boston, MA on April 1, 1956, she was the daughter of Ethel May Sargent Chafton of Portsmouth, RI and the late Claywell Moss Chafton. Mrs. Chafton was a sales clerk for Avon Cosmetics. She attended St. Lucys Church. She was a life member and past chaplin of the VFW auxilary. Mrs. Chafton was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International Society Eta Chapter, where she served as secretary and had been the Valentine Queen one year. Mrs. Chafton enjoyed playing bingo, reading a good book, her flower garden and sewing, knitting and chrocheting for her family. She was a prior sales clerk in former Newport area department stores. She is survived by her husband Raymond Tillery of Newport, RI, her mother Ethel May Chafton of Portsmouth, RI, two sons Thomas Kelly Gore of Enterprise, AL, and Joseph J. Gore of Waterville, ME, two brothers Richard C. Chafton of Portsmouth, RI, and Claywell M. Chafton II of Tiverton, RI, four grandchildren Bradley M. Gore, Tanya M. Gore, T. Maxwell Gore and Joshua Ranck.A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2004, at 9:00AM, in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be private.Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
