M. Doris Morrissette Bloom, 75, of 44 Martens Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late John D. BloomBorn in Fall River, MA, on March 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Marie Faucher Morrissette.Mrs. Bloom was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church, and a member of the St. Barnabas Womens Guild. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the AARP in Newport. She enjoyed traveling all over the world, was an avid golfer and a member of the former Pocasset Country Club. She also bowled on several bowling teams as a young woman.She is survived by two daughters, Susan M. Trout and her husband Paul of Bristol, RI, and Jean Drewes and her husband Franklin Hank of Napa, CA, her brother, Gerard Morrissette of Chicopee, MA, three sisters, Jean Palys of Tiverton, RI, Theresa Faris of Clarkson, WA, and Irene Schattel of Kerrville, TX, five grandchildren, Kristen Fitzpatrick of Watertown, MA, Elizabeth Trout of Warren, RI, Bradley Bloom, Amanda Bloom and Braunston Bloom all of MO, and seven great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her son, Stephen Bloom, her brother, Jacques Morrissette, and her sister, Bertha Friend.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 10, at 10:00 a.m., from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Friday, February 9, 2007, from 3-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home.Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 222 Richmond Street, Providence, RI, 02903.
