Newport, RI - Madelin B. Pedro Cooper, 92, of St. Clare Home, Newport, RI, formerly of 50 Seascape Avenue Middletown and 92 Stagecoach Road, Portsmouth, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at St. Clare Home, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Robert Donald Cooper. Born in Newport, RI on January 27, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Myra Flemming Pedro.Mrs. Cooper was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church. She was a volunteer at the Newport Hospital as a meal mate. Madelin was an avid bocci player and belonged to the Newport Bocci League. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son William E. Sullivan of Bristow, OK, her daughters Patricia A. Botelho and Joan M. Angel both of Portsmouth, RI and fourteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Edmund E. Sullivan, Jr. and the sister of the late Earl F. Pedro and Norma M. Cooper, and grandmother of the late Stacy Sullivan and Jacob Lyle. Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 9:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 1 from 4:00-7:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Clare Home, 309 Spring Street, Newport, RI 02840.
