Madeline Budlong

NEWPORT, RI ? Madeline ?Maggie? Correira Budlong, of 30B Earl Avenue, Newport, RI, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Robert ?Bob? Budlong of Newport. They were to celebrate their twenty fifth wedding anniversary this coming February. Born in Little Compton, RI, on April 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Angelo Correira Jr., and the late Madeline Bettencourt Correira. Mrs. Budlong was a dedicated mother and took loving care of her family. As they grew up she began work at the Sheraton and Viking Hotels, along with several others in the area. She loved to play bingo, was an avid knitter and loved cats. Maggie was a loving wife, mother and nana. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Beverly Fraticelli of Middletown, RI, Elizabeth Fernandes of Portsmouth, RI, Stephan Smith of Florida, Sarah Perez of Middletown, CT, Charles Smith of Cranston, RI, Anne Cordeiro of Middletown, RI, and Chris Ann Sherman of Newport, RI, her step daughter Barbara Correira of Newport, RI, her brother John Correira, her sisters, Bebeann, Beatrice, Nancy, Irene and Anne Marie, her two aunts Anna Bettencourt and Emma Virgadamo, twenty two grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Richard W. Smith and the sister of the late Richard, Angelo and Claire. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at 10:00 am in United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Road, Middletown.
