Middletown, RI -CPO Malcolm H. Joslyn Josh QMC/USN Ret, of Middletown, RI, passed away peacefully at home Friday, March 30, 2012. Born in Bangor, Maine on October 1, 1937, He was the son of the late Russell James and Ardis Alva Gellerson Joslyn. Josh worked at the Bangor shoe factory before joining the Navy at 17 years old. He served his country proudly and honorably for 24 years before retiring on Friday April 13th 1979. He said it was a great day for him and just a bad day for the Navy, His service included tours of duty aboard The USS Ottersetter, USNS Michelson, USS Holder, USS Miller, USS Hazelwood, USS Albert T. Harris, USS Calcaterra, USS Thomas J. Gary, USS Compton and the USS Damato. He also served at Naval Air Station Jacksonville FL, Brunswick ME, South Weymouth MA and NETC Newport where he taught Navagation at OCS. After retirement he had a second career as a Logistics Engineer for Vitro Labs and BAE Systems. Josh was an avid reader, a lifelong Red Sox fan and he had a love for animals. He is survived by his four sons, Barry Joslyn of Tiverton, RI, Alan Joslyn and his wife Cathy of Salem, VA, Ty Joslyn and his wife Kim of Bristol, RI, and Jason Joslyn and his wife Robyn of Middletown, RI and his daughter Justina Joslyn Victorino and her husband Jack of Wyoming, RI, six granddaughters, and six grandsons, and four great grandchildren, his sister Elaine Goss of Orrington Me. and brother Donald Joslyn of Columbia SC. He was preceded in death by his Loving wife Elizabeth C. Thibodeau Joslyn and his sisters MaryJane Lawson and Trella P. Girrior. Calling hours will be held on Saturday April 14, 2012, from 2-6pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway Newport. Memorial Service with Military Honors to follow at 6pm.Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Visiting Nurse Services of Newport Bristol Counties
