Manly C. Beebe

Manly Colton Beebe, 80, of 86 Island View Drive Tiverton, formerly of Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at his home in Tiverton, RI. He was the husband of the late Jane H. Rielly Beebe. Born in Boston, MA on October 4, 1922, he was the son of the late Maxwell Beebe and the late Olive Christensen Beebe. Mr. Beebe had worked as an electrical design engineer for Raytheon in Portsmouth, from 1946-1992. He was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. He was a Graduate of Northeastern University. Mr. Beebe was also a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII. He was a member of the Friends of Newport Jazz. He was an avid collector of jazz albums and ran record hops in Boston when he was younger. He was also a HAM operator going by the call letters KLTPK and was very active with HAM radio organizations. For several years he was a Saturday night DJ for the former WRLN, now WSNE. Mr. Beebe also loved his dogs. He is survived by two sons James McLaughlin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Paul McLaughlin of Portsmouth, RI, and daughters Sheila Seyster of Tiverton, RI, Faith Beebe of Portsmouth, RI, Joan Moceri of Glocester, MA, step daughter Karen Perry of Portsmouth, RI, and a sister Eleanor Beebe of Gloucester, MA, and 12 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother John Beebe. Calling hours will be held Monday, March 10 from 4-8pm in the Connonrs Funeral Home. His funeral will be held Tuesday, March 11, at 10:00 AM in St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 2679 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Pauls Churchyard in Portsmouth.
